In 1992 Jim Hauer, an industrial designer by trade, developed his first two BlueSky furled leaders, the light and medium sizes.
To ensure that these were more than just beautiful tapered leaders, he enlisted the help of several fly fishing experts to thoroughly test the leaders in the toughest conditions to make sure they would do the job.
